I wake up every morning, sometimes feeling happy, gratified but other times feeling lousy, drop dead miserable. Mornings as such, I toss over on my bed, stares at my two buddies. My stare was returned with another blank look, so it may seemed.

Then I would raffled my little “Teng Teng” and let its paws slide thru my face. I smile. “Teng Teng” is my doggie companion in bed. A bitch, one may gladly refer to.

I remember so clearly how “Teng Teng” came into my life 3.5 years back. It was 8:30pm on a misty night. I sat by on the bed, the lonely bed in the hospital. In fear I could not see another daylight, in fear I would be damned for my health. In came “Teng Teng”, held in the hands of my best friend. Both of them walked in, as the person I cared most for walked out of my life. My best friend exchanged words of comfort and left “Teng Teng” on the bedside.

I looked at him. I stared at him. “Teng Teng” spoke nothing. Gently, I whispered to him .. “I’m scared and lonely” I cried. The lifeless pet priced at RM10 from a night market waved his paws and softly patted me on my face. No, it was not a miracle. The cotton stuffing did not move, it was just me imagining and motioning its paws on my face. I was consoling myself.

I spent the night in the hospital with “Teng Teng”. It was one of the longest night in my life. The next morning I was discharged, my profile was sent to another hospital for further review. I’m glad further review since then has not indicated anything major setback in my health.

Looking back, every time I wake up next to “Teng Teng” I remind myself – I wake up in the comfort of my own home, my own bed. No foul mood could ruin my day. I set up feeling much better already, all these with merely a paw stroke on my face.

Seated next to “Teng Teng” is “Tatty Teddy”. It had a name, so I could not name it. “Tatty Teddy” comes direct from UK. Flew in more than 15 hours to reach my bedside. Well, the story of “Tatty Teddy” is simple. I was touched with the story and I love the grey bear with a blue nose, all my heart. Direct from the booklet hung on “Tatty Teddy” as follows:

A Grey Bear With A Blue Nose? By Carte Blanche http://www.metoyou.co.uk

The oldest smallest house you can imagine was about to be knocked down. All the things that once made the house nice and cosy has been thrown outside and piled up in the front garden, from the soft springy bed the owners slept in to the old wooden floorboards they used to walk on…

…and even, surely by some mistake, a little brown teddy bear. He was trapped amongst all the other unwanted things, and couldn’t move.

Then, one day .. a very, very cold day, something fell from the sky… a little snowflake.

It landed on the teddy bear’s little nose and was then followed by many more. He began to get very cold, very cold indeed. More and more snow fell, heavier and heavier. The little bear was now so cold that his nose started turning blue….

…so cold that his brown fur started turning grey. He was cold, unloved and all alone in the world and felt very, very sad.

Winter finally passed and the weather got warmer. One beautiful spring day, a little girl was playing near the old house, when she spotted the grey bear in the pile of unwanted things.

He was like no other bear she had ever seen, and she pulled him out from where he was trapped. She dusted him down and lifted him high in the sky to look at him.

“A grey teddy bear …with a blue nose?” she thought. “How strange!”

The teddy bear wanted to cry. He thought she didn’t like him and would throw him back with the other unwanted things. “But he’s lovely!” she continued, and she fell completely in love with him. She ran home as fast as her little legs would carry her, to see if her grandma could patch him up, as alot of his stuffings has fallen out, and he was very much in need of repair.

She looked on as her grandmother replaced his stuffing and patched up his holes. His stitches had started showing where the fur had worn away, but the little girl thought he looked perfect.

It was all cosy and warm in the little girl’s house and the bear now felt cosy and warm in his heart. However, his nose was still blue and his fur was still grey, and they would never return to brown. He was unique amongst teddy bears.

The little girl gave him a great big hug. She loved him more than anything else in the world ..her little grey ..blue nosed …

..tatty teddy.
Do you feel the love from “Tatty Teddy” ? I do.
